- Bitches Brew seems like the obvious jazz answer. Is there a better option?
- After a year layoff, I've started picking up jazz and blues records again. One of my recent finds is this Albert Ayler record on ESP called Spirits Rejoice from 1965. Love the black and white photography. #jazzsky #musicsky #internationaljazzday
- Once more, for the afternoon #InternationalJazzDay crowd

- Tonight's Jazz Tome entry is Jimmy Woods Sextet - Conflict (1963). I like the liner notes here because they give a first hand account of Woods' state of mine while writing the music. Mentions of race, war, and a search for peace through music. #jazzsky #musicsky thejazztome.info/jimmy-woods-...

- Wanted to get some work done on a Jimmy Woods album tonight, but instead fell down a blues rabbit hole. Namely, I have a promo copy of John Lee Hooker's Live at Sugar Hill (1963) on the way and found a press clipping of the show from the San Francisco Examiner, 10/31/1962. youtu.be/8QMvcAvI9sw?...
- Sent an email to the director of jazz studies at a university that appears to be using my website in their curriculum. I'm actually going to be in their town next month, so I asked to meet someone from the faculty. Might as well shoot your shot, right? Even if I don't get a response I'm still happy.

- Tonight's Jazz Tome entry is Young Men from Memphis - Down Home Reunion (1959). This features Booker Little, Frank Strozier and other Memphians in a fun jam session spread over four tracks. Duke's "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" is a highlight. thejazztome.info/young-men-fr... #jazzsky #musicsky

- Tonight's Jazz Tome entry is 4,000 words on Bill Evans' 1960 masterpiece Portrait in Jazz. There's effusive praise all around for both Evans and bassist Scott LaFaro. In a genre full of tragic could-have-been stories, Scott's is one of the saddest. #jazzsky #musicsky thejazztome.info/bill-evans-t...
- In a website full of amazing reviews, I think this one from @sonemic.com might be my favorite. If Comfuyyy heard a free jazz LP their head might just explode. #jazzsky
- Unsurprisingly, tonight's Jazz Tome entry is the first of three 1960 Jackie McLean Blue Note albums featuring Jimmy Garrison, Walter Bishop Jr. and Art Taylor. “They came, swung and they split, so we called the album, Swing, Swang, Swingin’." thejazztome.info/jackie-mclea... #jazzsky #musicsky
- "...Jackie still speaks with candor but there is more bittersweet than bitterness and a beautiful cry that says, in essence, 'You've got to pay a lot of dues in life but it's a groove to be alive.'" - Ira Gitler on Jackie McLean in his liner notes for Swing Swang Swingin' (1960). #jazzsky
