She said even then it was clear that Holmes was mostly BSing her way through the industry, but had support from people who desperately wanted to believe her over-the-top promises.
Even though the fraud was barely hidden and very sloppily carried out, it was really, really hard and dangerous to bring her down—it took 13 years!—partly because her family was well connected. The book BAD BLOOD is a great (and horrifying) read.
