- This paper has everything: Lord of the Rings typeface subheader, the word chirographic (handwriting as centaur?!) & a beautiful meditation on how we work with fragments & how they haunt us, whatever archives we're in.
- there’s no greater high than having the exact right number of books for an event and strutting out of there empty handed. nothing else comes close

- I know it's some Wall St code or something but as a non-money person to me it looks like his calling himself Strump -- Strumpet? Strumpelstiltskin? Also Schtroumpf! (Original name for the Smurfs.)
- Yeahyeahyeah now I'm gna have to write a story called Strumpelstiltskin...
- The big book that matters!!! If you haven't read THE EIGHTH LIFE (co-translated by the same dream team), you still have time to get to that EPIC of matrilineal cursed chocolate & artmaking before THE LACK OF LIGHT drops... treat yourself.
- BIG BOOK klaxon: this 725pp epic will be out in September, translated by @cctranslates.bsky.social and me. More info here: www.harpercollins.com/products/the...

- An Australian YA novel whose name I can't remember where the call is coming from inside the house but it's OK (supposedly) bc it's not the mean girls, it's the protagonist's stalker/"boyfriend" and it's romantic really. Leaving her notes saying "I am the song you hear before you sleep." Ugh no.
- I mean the Torah had upset me long before that book, but its trashy thrall lingers still -- it set me up to be completely immune to Jane Eyre & every other groomer cishet narrative sold as "romantic."
- Caught by the full moon rising over Slemish (aka St Patrick's Seat) last night. Also dreamed a few hours later that a witch pushed a ghost (a rectangle of shimmering nothingness) into my torso. Woken with a pounding heart by a donkey braying mournfully over the road.
- Extreme bluebell glow in Creagh Woods. Didn't see any pine martens but did hear a very determined cuckoo. Looked into a holy well by a wishing stone on the way back. Excited to see who visits my dreams tonight.
- Add UK-US trade deal + the oh so coincidental defeat of the copyright amendment (+ odious Mosley spawn Palantiring on TV today) = we've been sold. bsky.app/profile/theb...

- "Ravel" 💞
- An amazing thread about the long tradition of authors considering themselves gatherers & compilers as well as originators. Or perhaps that every author through history has named many versions of their work final_final_final_use this one_addition_def final dot doc.
- "A poem is never finished, only abandoned." Paul Valéry (def a canonical "Hey I know we're going to print but I just want to change this comma" guy).
- A reminder that COPPER SCRIPT comes out on 29th May, which is less than three weeks. Get your stroppy graphologist ❤️ uptight policeman 1920s romantic suspense here! (Will be coming in print and audio too, audio a bit later.) books2read.com/u/4NE2KG

- INCREDIBLE. Thank you! A project taking shape here too via Greenham Common, Cecilia Vicuña, tatreez & ofc Ursula K. Le Guin. Enheduana feels like the key!

- Question coming from conversation I had about textiles & feminist cultural production yesterday: do you have a source for Enheduana and/or any sense around the word she used for "quilter" (apparently some controversy around what quilting is in textiles community!)... Appreciated as ever.

- I'm really flashing back on a four hour session of rewatching the video and analysing the narrative & its relation to the lyrics with my best friend when we were maybe 12. It seemed so dark & mysterious, almost a precursor to Laura Palmer's diary... wow, flooding back!
