- The headline says it all... free for a week, all you have to do is sign over your soul... #writingcommunity #freeebooks #freebooks #indieauthor #ercan'tthinkofanymore stevensavile.com/landers/free...
- It's April... and April is Nick Curran month... Taut, devastating, and full of quiet fury, No One to Bury is a haunting story of love, loss—and the impossible lengths we go to when we refuse to let go. Right now, for the launch week, it's a 99p special. 💙📚 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F4PMV5HQ
- Spent the weekend building myself a website (how very 1999 of me) and decided to set it up so that anyone joining the newsletter at the bottom gets a free novel... which is currently being recorded for audio release in a few months. #freebooks #newsletter #ebooks #writingcommunity stevensavile.com
- After a lot of deliberation, hemming, a wee bit of hawing... lots of hair pulling out... I think I am finally happy with the Codex Ogmios reboot...

- Ah congratulations, mate, top news.
- So new job just sent me a stupidly powerful laptop - like the most expensive piece of kit I have ever owned. Took me an hour to realise it's a UK keyboard... I've been gone that long, and working on Nordic keyboards I actually didn't recognise the key placement as the one I grew up with.

- Yep... I mean, guaranteed every fucking time. New game gig, can you get me in... new book deal, can you introduce me... heh.. looking for an agent, yeah... honestly lost count.

- So, I mean this is all well and good... but how can I get in on this?
- All work and no play…

- So, launch day, hit #1 in British Horror, #1 in a few other charts on the 'Zon. Deflippinlighted with that. This book is a love letter to 80s and 90s British horror writers I grew up on, Stephen Laws, Mark Morris, Steve Harris, Clive Barker & Stephen Gallagher. www.amazon.co.uk/Thornhill-In...

- I'm a bit like Alan, in that I write short and add... but these days I'm also adding less. But then again, with Thornhill being 160k long who the fuck needs to ADD hahah
- Ending the book launch day at #1 in British Horror and a few other slots is a very nice return to writing horror after pretty much 30 years away playing in crime and fantasy.
- And number five in British horror (with a bullet) that’s not a bad return to horror after 30 years away. #writingcommunity #horror #newrelease #bookbirthday www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F3WGHSWH
- A number one hot new release? I'll take that. www.amazon.co.uk/Thornhill-In...
- Surprise… brand new massive folk horror dark fantasy, Thornhill, sneaking out today, 99p/99c perfect for fans of that sort of small town creeping horror of Stranger Things and the King himself. #newbook #ebooks #writingcommunity #horror #folkhorror #britishhorror www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F3WGHSWH

- Cheers - and I work on the logic that it’s already sold a dozen this morning so it can’t do worse than staying on my hard drive for another year ;)
- [Not loaded yet]
- Cheers, yeah I worked on it for about 19 months, and went way too long so realized a trad pub wouldn’t bite in the current market so thought hmm cut almost half or go solo… so 99p

- Yep very much the argument here, they are being let down
- [Not loaded yet]
- I thought so. And I was coming off the back of a People's Book Prize finalist for another similar age kid's book. We would have been able to use the team logo, shirts, etc, would have been in the team shop, you name it. But even with full endorsement every publisher said no, we can't sell enough.

- Oh we move on, we do other stuff. But I think it is in the 'conversation' of why boys don't read, and what is put out for them to read now vs what was when we were growing up. It's much the same as to why trad fantasy numbers are so down, but indie and Amazon sales are filling that 'classic elf' gap

- The team are unique as they are all from Syrian backgrounds. There's something wonderful about the story where talent shines and lifts you from war (becoming a refugee) up to the world stage (like Luca Modric), and growing up, Roy of the Rovers, Striker, Jossie's Giants... then nothing.
- A few years ago we had the official agreement of an all-immigrant football team here in Sweden (now in the top league) to do a series of books about a young boy from Syrian background going from war torn streets to the CL with their team. Couldn't get a publisher interested because 'boys don't read'
- Just had some ridiculously cool news regarding who is voice acting for the new game and will be making my deathless dialogue sound super cool haha could not be happier.
- So, I've been messing around a lot, thinking about the fact my folk horror I wrote last year is about 200 pages too long for trad, and have been stretching my photoshop skills... trying to work out what is the best 'look' - thoughts #writingcommunity

- Cheers - I've spent the last year and a half trying to learn photoshop hahaha - a good way to avoid writing ;)

- Amen to that. Fucking meta have invaded my messenger and Facebook apps with their META Ai that… y’ know erm stole 81 of my books and translations to train… not best pleased that it seems so entangled I can’t root it out either
- [Not loaded yet]
- It has too,I think, as so much is based on smoke and mirrors and endless demands to compute
- [Not loaded yet]
- Yep things are going crazy out there and the landscape is shifting at a million miles an hour. I’m not sure what will be left in three years. Had dinner with my editor at Little Brown and their bosses were in love with ai, rhapsodizing about the poems it had written for them etc

- Ha well with the collapsing of more traditional avenues and diminishing bookstore sales gotta take some sort of attempted control of the career or just stare at the screen waiting for miracles hah
- [Not loaded yet]
- Yeah it is heavily influenced by the Andy Remic ww2 covers that were sort of my style guide. I’ve got about 20 versions of the name and title saved here from more distressed to plain, made from sticks, you name it haha this learning photoshop was a baaaad idea for my obsessions haha

- Me too personally - my ‘worry’ is too artistic not ‘genre’ enough but I like it much more
- [Not loaded yet]
- Yeah that echoes my feelings - I personally am drawn to the modern not so genre but the right says what it is on the tin…
- And now another day in the hospital - better chair today at least.

- Cheers mate. It’s been rough here for a while, and trying to be creative at the same time… yeah that’s a challenge haha

- Not me, my wife has breast cancer and is having a rough time with various infections knocking her down. It’s exhausting but the nurses are great.
- What better way to spend your ALCS money? 🍷Thanks Jane! #ALCSTreat
- And magic money day has arrived!! Thank you @alcs.co.uk for my vicarious spending on white wine and fancy earrings! That was a very nice statement to wake up to. Indie authors, if you haven't already, do go register.

- That is very kind of you to say. Thank you.
- How beautiful! This is why we do what we do. All the best to you and your wife Steven! ❤️
- Thank you. It's been a tough weekend, most of it spent in the ER because of fever and infection, so it was good to be able to do something 'extra'. And from all the authors out there, you know we appreciate the heck out of you folks and what you do.
- Mine has gone on an earrings for my wife, who is currently on round three of chemo for metastatic breast cancer. It has earned a smile, and that is all the win.
- Life is hard. The magic is surrounding yourself with good people to navigate the toughest times with. Wisdom brought to you by the weekend from hell and ten hours in the ER. #fuckcancer

- SO, yeah Meta have stolen 81 books and stories of mine to train their LLM... not one or two... 81.
