- In my opinion, the best approach would be to write a mini-code that only applies to buildings under 30,000 sqft and within the high-rise height limit, specifically for residential uses only above the first floor. Don't worry about multiple Types or occupancies.

- There's a reason I keep saying someone should write a new building code separate from IBC. It's like dealing with a 40+ year old COBOL mainframe software system: it has so many parts that conflict with each other that it should be replaced instead of being patched, but nobody wants to do the work.
- Oh, just read footnote d, which says those NS numbers are just for existing structures

- I've completely flipped on this issue. The Elizabeth Street Garden should be preserved. It should be turned into a museum called the Elizabeth Street Museum of New York Infrastructure Dysfunction.
- New: Randy Mastro, Mayor Adams’ top aide, is seriously exploring a proposal to spare Manhattan’s Elizabeth St. Garden from an affordable housing development by instead building the apartments on a nearby lot once reserved for a public school, per sources. www.nydailynews.com/2025/05/13/a...

- HUGE - a victory for generations of activists and a major quality of life improvement for New Yorkers. Never doubt the power of grit, activist passion, and comically-oversized golden scissors.
- The city will this weekend finally open a new pedestrian path this weekend after delays Earlier story: nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/03/14/m...

- the number one goal for everyone left-of-center for the next 6 weeks should be making sure Andrew Cuomo doesn’t become mayor of the largest city in the country. even if you don’t live in NYC, you probably have friends or family who do. please tell them how awful Cuomo.
- My personal ranking will be 1) @zellnor.bsky.social 2) @bradlander.bsky.social 3) @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social 4) Adrienne Adams regardless of the order you pick, make sure you rank ALL of these candidates! we can’t let Cuomo win because people didn’t use all their ranking slots
