Runs @theseislands.bsky.social. “cannot stand the awesome reality of Scotland’s energy wealth” - Alex Salmond. Posting in a personal capacity.
- 1/ The SNP has quietly admitted its “100,000 children lifted out of poverty” line was false. The downgraded claim says “forecast to keep 40,000 out of relative poverty”. Once again, a bogus statistic is shouted from the rooftops, and the truth is swept under the carpet…
- The CEO of Centrica (parent company of British Gas) explains why the “cheap renewables” narrative is wrong. Renewables do mean lower emissions and greater energy security (and for those reasons, are a good thing). But renewables will not deliver markedly lower electricity bills.
- Michael Matheson asks energy systems expert Dr Simon Gill about Scotland’s potential to export green hydrogen to Europe, and probably wishes he hadn’t. Dr Gill says Scotland’s opportunity in green hydrogen is primarily to supply the rest of GB (which is not the SNP narrative).
