- I promise this will be space-related. Growing up in Westford, MA we played Cow Pie Bingo every year to raise $$$ for the schools. Someone would chalk the practice field into a grid, everyone would "buy" a square or 2, & Farmer Fletcher would release a cow into the field to eat &, ah, fertilize. 🧵
- Whoever "owned" the square the cow fertilized would be declared the winner. It was good stupid fun. I want to play Kosmos 482 Bingo. This large Russian spacecraft is going to careen through our atmosphere and smash into some location between 52 deg North and 52 deg South latitude. Let's guess.
- I have put together a Google sheet listing the centers of vaguely equal area squares (this means there are fewer squares per latitude bin as you go north or south) and set the spreadsheet so anyone can comment to claim their square. I'm claiming Westford. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
- Anyone can play. Just open that spreadsheet and use the comment function to add your name. I'll go in periodically and update the spreadsheet to put the names in as actually typed in. Here's that link again. docs.google.com/spreadsheets... Now, Cow Pie Bingo was a fundraiser, so....
- If you want to donate (absolutely not required), please consider donating to CosmoQuest to support our still rich in DEI science programs. Bit.ly/CQX-FY25 If we reach $15k on our fundraiser before Kosmos 482 comes down, I'll send the winner their choice of Hoodie from our TeePublic store.May 8, 2025 18:54
