- So, we were donated HALF A TON of video game magazines. We have no idea what's in these boxes. Next week, we're going to open them live on stream. Save the date for MAILBAG MOUNTAIN -- May 20, 1pm PDT! youtube.com/live/T7DFDrQ...

- I made another hyper-specific chart for a discussion in a Zelda discord, you're welcome
- Whew, after Polygon's buyout it felt urgent, so I spent a good 6-8 hours over the past week scouring their publication history for things I need to add to @hyruleinterviews.bsky.social , ended up with a 124-item spreadsheet. Now time for... data entry Tomorrow, maybe xD

- I managed to find the source of this of this interview mentioned in a smallmariofindings post: issue 13 of Arcade. archive.org/details/Arca... I'll be adding this to the Shigeru Miyamoto Archive today.
- Does IC mean "integrated circuit" here? What is he talking about?
- Huh, yeah I'm not sure what he might mean here. It looks like this was Dec 19999, the same month the N64DD came out. His attention was probably shifting more and more towards GameCube at this point, and I know "Communication" games were a big theme of his at that time. Hmmm
- My lossless retro game library idea made progress. Previously, one would record a 1x size emulator window in a modified OBS as AVI (over a gb per couple minutes footage) then convert to a VP9 codec webm file to reduce size. I made a screen capture application that now records direct to VP9 webm!

- Almost forgot - today is VGMaps.com's 23rd birthday! An inspiration for VGMaps is the first official Nintendo Power Player's Guide: The NES Game Atlas. I read this book a lot! I love all the NES games featured in it.

- I’ve been digging into the history of AAA games again, and would you believe the term actually goes all the way back to 1991? It’s true! Marketers were using AAA to distinguish between “high quality” NES games versus the “inferior” 8-bit titles out there. www.videogamecanon.com/adventurelog...
