Atheist. Will enough of us wake up before a nuclear WWIII? My biggest fear is that 40 years of increasing division caused by: 24/7 news, reality TV, social media information bubbles, and generative AI will be the downfall of us all.
- Portugal is taking online disinformation and fake news seriously. As part of a broader attempt to encourage media literacy, it’s offering 15-18 year olds a free digital subscription to a range of respected newspapers and magazines as well as online upstarts that don’t spread lies. (Monocle)

View full threadIt was ruined by the total blockage that was lifted at the end of the war. Give them a "potato winter" and Putin gets the window experience
- PS: I would love for you to be right and see on the news: "War in Ukraine ended. Russian economy collapses."
- When I see HBO trending
- Ahh memories. We used to have a wall of bookshelves in our living room. Didn't have books. But were filled with VHS tapes. BTW: can you imagine if this was the animated sequence we saw every time we opened the MAX app? PS: didn't you have a verification checkmark?
- SANCHEZ: 1 in 5 Missourians are covered by Medicare. Roughly how many of them in your view would be deemed ineligible for these benefits? REP. MARK ALFORD: I do not have any numbers on that ... show me why you should be using taxpayer money for Medicaid that's funneled from the federal govt
- The quickest way to tank the economy (Wall street will have no say in this): kill Medicaid, cut social security. Combined those programs affect ~30% of our economy on the demand side. Watch GDP shrink by a staggering amount. We will have deflation. If you thought inflation was bad...
- All true but that's not what ended the war. Same goes for today. Macroeconomics data isn't a deciding factor here. All it's doing now is letting the world know how much his people suffer. He controls them. They are enduring people. The war will continue until Putin is dead. It's not optics.

- "Drone them to hell..." Love that.
- As a parallel in history I would draw attention to the "ruined" economy of Germany by the end of WWII. It started off bad by Nazi takeover, and got worse from there. It wasn't the state of the economy that ended the war. I suspect little about the state of Russian economy is holding back Putin.
- Sure, his people are suffering. But does Putin care?
- RFK Jr refuses to recommend people take the measles vaccine, but instead says "there are issues" with it
- Historical data? What's that?

- Why stop with data interoperability? We should build a giant research warehouse and have all the diseases under one roof with no walls in between. Yes, this will make research more efficient. 🙄 If you can't tell I support govt info silos.
