Big ups to chefs for rehabilitating the following kitchen things
1) microwave
2) rice cooker
Few years ago people would look down on you for using them and nowadays every professional chef I see is like “yeah why wouldn’t you use them, are you stupid?”
I have been fighting with myself regularly about buying a rice cooker.
I have an instant pot that will cook rice, but I often want to use that for what goes on top of rice.
But I know it’s just going to collect dust unless I turn into a rice person.
I finally ended this same struggle by ordering a rice cooker yesterday.
I'll still use my instant pot for carnitas, tamales, and proofing bread dough.
Apr 22, 2025 20:24yeah, i wouldn't stop using it for things, but being able to do rice, with the things in the instant pot sounds lovely.
I'm curious how you find it after a few weeks. I've spent way too long agonizing over what should be a straight forward purchase 😂
So far, so good. I use it about 2-3 times a week. It's easy to clean and simple to use. I like that I can make the rice in the morning if I want and it maintains a good temp and texture all day.
My only problem right now is I haven't figured out where to store it.
