Tbf fire types kind of aren't real in Hoenn

Blaziken is only good because it’s basically a flying/fighting type in disguise

and there are better ways to get that coverage in your party. You can more or less run the back half of the game just with Sceptile if you wanted

Yeah I did a play though once where I tried to use as few Pokémon as possible, ended up taking the elite 4 with just 1
