- My editorial on how journals can earn trust. We often use journal names as proxies for quality. This is bad bc it’s not valid. But it could be. Editors could make journal name a valid signal. And we could place value on journals that show us how they do that. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....
- A resounding victory for the left - the right lost even more seats than last election. And like in Canada, the leader of the conservative party, Peter Dutton, lost his seat. Dutton was running to be Prime Minister and he won’t even be a member of parliament 🎉 #auspol
- It’s Election Day in Australia!! I get to vote for the first time, and earn my democracy sausage. Polls were close a few weeks ago, but thanks to the Liberals’ (right wing) Trumpian positions and tactics, it looks likely that Labor (centre left) will hold on and Albo will stay our Prime Minister 🤞
- autumn makes me 😢
- If you’re an APS member, check your email for your ballot (subject: “Vote in the APS 2025 Board of Directors Election”). Voting ends April 30. Help select the next president and board members!

- Reposted by simine vazireOn today of all days, with Princeton now in the Trump administration's crosshairs, I taught my undergraduates about standpoint epistemology, strong objectivity, and communities of knowledge. On how our unique perspectives as individuals don't threaten the scientific project. They strengthen it.
- New academic year, new lab pic! (Yes, that’s $20 of froyo in front of me. I ate it all.) @bethclarke.bsky.social @wchiggins.bsky.social

- 2025 is off to a great start. We’re very lucky to have Julia starting in this role!
- As the new year approaches, I’m thinking about people who stood out to me this year for their leadership in tough situations/roles: @briannosek.bsky.social, @jnfrltackett.bsky.social, and @tomhardwicke.bsky.social. I’m close to them so I’m biased, but I find their strength and integrity inspiring.
- Starting in 15 minutes! Still time to register (I think!)
- Tomorrow I’ll be part of a panel discussing psychology’s reform movement, looking back over the last 10+ years! You can register to attend here: improvingpsych.org/sips-2025-pr... Wednesday 18 Dec at: 11:30am Pacific US time 2:30pm Eastern US 8:30pm Europe 6:30am Thur in Sydney/Melb Please share!

- @PaulTurchan @lakens @AlexanderEtz @DavidFunder larger Ns slows every down equally. if you can get small Ns, you can get large Ns in time.
- @PaulTurchan @lakens @DavidFunder not sure i understand. all of us will continue to collect same Ns, just package them into fewer studies.
- @PaulTurchan @lakens @AlexanderEtz @DavidFunder to clarify, not saying ppl at small schools aren't disadvantaged, but this doesn't change it
- @PaulTurchan @lakens @AlexanderEtz @DavidFunder sorry to harp, this is impt: requiring large Ns doesn't increase existing disadv., does it?
