Narrative design question: What's a great example of weaving narrative into game mechanics?
I'll start:
When a game has a raw, emotionally devastating moment immediately preceding action gameplay & zero recovery time in between, forcing the player to think on their feet while they're still reeling
Probably a very mainstream answer, but Hades ties protagonist's repeated escape attempts with rogue-like's repeated deaths very well. Other characters have a ton of different interactions commenting on your progress, victories and failures, added challenges, the way you died, etc.
