- i asked one of my coworkers if he knew who Nelson Mandela was. he said "yeah". i asked him if he knew what nelson mandela was famous for and if he knew what apartheid means. he said "no" to both. my coworker is 24.
- "knowing black history" is more than just learning the names; its learning the FULL HISTORY to give the learner context for the future. the harsh reality of sanitizing black history is that it's essentially the same as destroying black history you learn so little when you only learn a name
