View full threadI think a big portion of this is that most USian tastes are shaped by imperial exceptionalism. Just accessing the arts is such a rarity for most and it's assumed one must emphatically "love" everything as an expression of politeness. This works against the development of a critical public eye.
- Accessing the arts being a rarity also pushes people to have an extreme reaction, positive or negative. They don't want to believe they just spent precious leisure time and a good chunk of money on something that was mid. It has to be something worth posting about - amazing or awful.

- When you've been around furry for a long time you start to see even fairly unusual fan names get recycled But Also You'll sometimes see somebody poke their head up for the first time in yeeeears so it's always interesting when you see a familiar name, wondering which it's gonna be.

- Other long-hair-havers: What do you do with your hair when fursuiting? I use a loose scrunchy to keep it together about 1/3 to 1/2 way down, and then kinda wrap it around under my chin inside the balaclava so I don't have a huge hair bun bulge when putting my head on, but...is there a better way?

- It's interesting the 'countdown' timer still works though hehe. That actually sounds really cool, though it'd be a bit of a marathon sitting through that whole thing, dang.
- Not sure if supply chain issues or something else, but a couple of times lately I've gone to buy a fairly normal thing on Amazon and they either only have sketchy versions or just don't have it at all. Trying to shop there less anyways lately but might have less choice than I thought!
