View full threadI hope that maybe some economic shock or event will break the spell of the personalist cult. I’ll keep fighting as an activist. But I also feel realistically that this fight is a long one as this is a cultural issue with deep seated moneyed oligarchy interests and real change will take a generation.

- easily the best 2:35 minutes of my day
- city creek in Petersburg today. it’s been a very wet spring but also with low snow levels, until now. looks like temps are finally high enough at elevation for a major rain on snow event though it still feels cold at sea level #alaskaSky
- something to keep in mind is that a great number of scientific breakthroughs do not emerge from the scientific method, but rather from mistakes or heretics i worry about our society’s science fundamentalism, and how much of it is has coevolved with predatory forms of capitalism
- This has come up in community meetings for me — people feel like if ICE is lawless what can we even do by trying to help people know their rights or defend their rights. But we CAN slow them down and sometimes stop them. In doing so we embody the society we want to be living in, we keep it alive
- pope won’t save us only organizing can do that etc etc
- one thing I really love right now is seeing people in my community activated & organizing to protect immigrants and oppose fascism and within this I can see that people are learning to trust their own collective action as a source of hope. You know instead of just relying on far off leaders for that
