- It is more than likely that this coin passed through the hands of someone who was protesting against the crowns authority. (disgruntled catholics) This half crown has a cross deliberately scratched across her face. Lion initial mark AD 1566-1567

- No mistaking that portrait, what an incredible window at Melford Hall. Elizabeth 1st, she was entertained here in 1578. Commissioned sometime in the 19th century.

- No, I just wandered around by myself. Possibly, I saw a notice in one of the rooms saying there was a devastating fire in that wing, in the 40's I think.
- Really annoyed right now. So many people do the right thing, but not the theiving criminals who metal detected this Scheduled Monument on the Esk. They not only illegally detected, they couldnt even be arsed to replace the turves. Which I have now...but who knows what evidence they've taken.
- Not good news for those of us that do our very best to do the right thing 😔
