- Two months ago, Senamile Masango passed away at the age of 37. She was the first Black woman in South Africa to become a nuclear physicist, and a champion of STEM education for African girls. - Turkish chemist Ayşe Saffet Rıza Alpar was born 122 years ago today - she received her PhD from the University of Hamburg in 1932, returning to Turkey to build up its chemistry program from 1933 until her retirement in 1976, authoring multiple texts on industrial chemistry. #WomenInSTEM #ChemSky 🧪

- Dr. Patricia Bath invented laserphaco, a device and technique to remove cataracts. It performed all steps of cataract removal: making the incision, destroying the lens and vacuuming out the fractured pieces.
