Bernie will be 89 when his term is up. His actual legislative accomplishments don't add up to "objectively one of the most beneficially influential politicians on the national scene", lol.
You've got an obvious double standard.
I have no clue what he said bc I muted him, but I would argue that a Conor lamb, who doesn’t spend so much of his time on his personal branding would be a more effective progressive senator.
Anyways, none of these people are serious and most of them will be wearing red hats in 18 months.
also Schakowsky is retiring now and "she old" was Abu's primary stated reason for running so...now what
I also don’t think that primarying someone, even for a reason as specious as “she’s old” is bad necessarily. But just being aesthetically on the left is not a shield from criticism either.
right but my point is that people point out a good reason for her to be running in that specific district, but that reason is no longer operative, and it kind of undermines your whole deal to have to re-launch your theory of the case a month in
May 13, 2025 22:20Eh, I think her politics are largely fine, and I think that “now that Jan has retired I look forward to continuing the good progressive work she did with even more energy and vigor”
sure but that isn't a reason you choose a narcoleptic 26 year old over a similar candidate with a conventional resume, and if she just becomes "a normal candidate with a shitload of extracurricular internet baggage" it becomes a Stancil situation where there's just no reason to invite the circus in
Yeah i mean i think the height of irony would be if a person with similar politics but actual experience and address or at least a connection in the district won the primary.
