This is a big reason government gets its “inefficiency” rep, because they typically can’t afford to have things to fall apart during the busy seasons and so many agencies maintain enough staff to handle that volume year round
If there's one thing I can count on when I see a very efficient operation, it's that somewhere there is rot that has gone completely unaddressed because whoever's doing the operating does not have a minute to spare on what's become a whole day's headache.
Psychos at HHS notwithstanding I think this group is a bigger part of the Democratic coalition than the Bluesky demographic would imagine
it’s basically the same in California though, the reactionary elements are clearly present especially among the rich and famous but majority are liberals (low info ones with weird politics in a lot of cases but still not voting Trump ever)
