Tom Reagan’s Hat
Always looking for the heat around the corner
- Finished Andor. It’s up there with The Wire & Deadwood in terms of its ambition to depict how individuals begin to work together within or outside corrupt institutions & societies to try to build something better even at the loss of their own humanity at times. Just brilliant television in the end.
- ROBOPRIEST (2026)
- The future of religious enforcement
- Another great Benton movie
- One of my students, 13, once said to me (god knows why) 'I hate immigrants.’ I said calmly 'I'm an immigrant' & he went red and apologised. I said 'It's ok but watch this.' Asked my form (who just thought I was being random as usual - didn't want to humiliate him) how many of their parents- (1/3)
- Like an alien who’s just had smiling explained to him
- Hustle, Boogie Nights & Deliverance showed that Burt Reynolds was a very fine serious actor but I always enjoyed his self-deprecating wit too: ‘My movies were the kind they show in prisons and airplanes, because nobody can leave.’
- I’m contractually obliged to show this film some love every time someone else does. It’s a low key classic. Tommy Lee Jones should have had money thrown at him to make more films. Alas.
