- Private lending is near unregulated and it's where the hedge funds are sending their flash boys their latest scheme is to missell unsuitable 500% leveraged investment products to steal people's retirement funds archive.is/cU3s7
- I've read other articles like this, and entire books (When Genius Failed is the latest), where my gut tells me that this stuff is either a "gambling system" or creating money out of thin air. YAGRQS: yet another get rich quick scheme. But not for the mark.
- the 90s were a wild time. if i told you how many magazines there were you wouldnt even believe me
- Let's see if I can remember everything we got in the 1960s: Popular Science Popular Mechanics Mechanix Illustrated National Geographic Scientific American Astounding/Analog Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Ellery Queen Mystery Readers' Digest Redbook Chatelaine Outdoor Life

- I do not now, nor have I ever needed a tax break. Not when I was at the bottom and definitely not when I was at the top. The only thing I've ever needed was for my government to stop stealing my services to satisfy some business person's or rich fucker's warped economic ideology.
- Rolling back more than 50 years of progress.

- oooo so lucky! i can't believe you got a visit from the nap fairy!
- I have them on retainer. All of my naps are guilt free.
- I have some *thoughts* on Dems like @schumer.senate.gov & @blumenthal.senate.gov sponsoring KOSA *now* even as a quick glance around shows that Trump is implementing Project 2025 and Heritage Foundation has said clearly that KOSA is part of its strategy to censor LGBTQ & abortion info. Like WT?
- A Democratic Party led by Schumer is a Democratic Party that will never again regain national power. The party either needs to go big, bold, extreme anti-MAGA and swing for the fences or give up
- If the Republicans are like the Conservatives of Canada, they are very good at "you say white, I say black" knee-jerk contrarianism. If your Democrats and our Liberals would make the same play, we each at least have real alternatives in the voting booth.
- Wayne Long, newly-minted secretary of state for Canada Revenue Agency, tells reporters in Ottawa today: "I think we're going to see our government run like a corporation, which I think is long overdue."
- So, an authoritarian organization that cares not a whit for expertise or consequences or that never looks beyond the next quarterly report? No thanks, I want my government to keep organizations like that from destroying society, not emulate them.
- What is carburetor sludge anyway
- The bane of my existence. Not helpful, I know. I always assumed it was chlorophyll or something from the grass. Maybe it's just my personal experience, but I only see the green stuff in lawn equipment. Snowblowers and chainsaws seem to be immune.
- I remember dial-up internet days where it took minutes to download a single image. Now we're doing nearly two terabytes a month.
- Yikes! Out here in the wastelands, our lousy cell internet is closer to dial-up than what you have. 15 GB plan and slow, unreliable service via a booster. (I miss Starlink!)
- rovenica/necrovia are anagrams of my childhood favourite "Archie" character. Originally from the trans-femme chaotic good/evil d&d characters I played in the 1980s. walloftext s/b self-evident and now a domain name. My current display name was bestowed on me by a friend and s/b also self-evident.
