Remember when this whole thing started by ownership repeatedly saying that the stadium would be privately funded?
This whole thing is so irresponsible and the comments of some city council members made it clear they know it, but only one of them had the guts to actually vote no.
BREAKING: By a vote of 11-1, the City Council has approved the plan for the Denver NWSL stadium with $70 million in public money for the public private partnership.
Next comes rezoning the area this fall.
Denver already got the expansion team! The city had all the leverage! They could have slowed the whole thing down, commissioned actual studies, negotiated and responsibly governed, but that so rarely happens with sports stadiums in America. It's so sad.
Inter Miami had zero leverage. Zero. None. Yet Miami still gave them $250 million in public land
