- Looking at maps on the @natlibscot.bsky.social website, which I love to do, and came across this map by R. Batley showing the coast from Yarmouth to Dover, as well as the Thames Estuary. Great stuff! #CoastalHistory maps.nls.uk/view/261418469

- Reposted by Thony ChristieA timepiece of seventeenth-century Germany. A single-sheet item printed in red and black. A broadside ("Horologium Pietatis: Zwölff geistliche Betrachtungen...") drawing on the clock’s ubiquitous presence in early modern culture. Have a closer look at this 🧵 dear #skystorians 1/

- There are now over 2000 UK academic signatories to our open letter in support of trans rights & inclusion, along with hundreds of other UK educators & international supporters. It's heartening to see such support from colleagues for our trans siblings. #NotInOurName docs.google.com/document/d/1...
- Reposted by Thony ChristieI agree with this whole thread — it’s just factually true! — and it also highlights a bigger truth: however much you think you hate the planning system, they are the last bastion of state regulation against *property developers*. Why does the left suddenly like *property developers*????
- I don't think the government has any idea how much of a political liability this is. When people twig what the Planning and Infrastructure Bill means - that our precious wild places will have no meaningful protection against whatever a corporation wants to do - it'll be felt as a monstrous betrayal.

- Reposted by Thony ChristieHere I am standing in the anatomical amphitheater at the University of Uppsala in Sweden, which was built in 1630. It was used for dissecting dead animals and humans. It was not used as an operating theater for living patients. @tealcartoons.bsky.social felt a bit queasy taking the photo!
