- Happy New Year! It's time for a fresh thread of manga! Same rules as the past two years: one post per volume read, and I'll note if it's licensed in English or not. If it's licensed, that's the version I read. Last year I read 405 volumes. What will I reach in 2025?

View full thread187. Kisses That Taste Like Lies, Vol. 1 - licensed - A business exec who resists forming relationships finds himself inexorably drawn to a mysterious bartender, but a night of passion ends up teaching him a valuable lesson about laying down with con men. Kinda fun, but I don't know if I'll continue
- 188. How Do We Relationship?, Vol. 7 - licensed - Saeko and Miwa have stopped hooking up and gone back to being friends, leaving them both to throw themselves into new relationships. Despite their resolve to learn from mistakes, some problems repeat themselves. Neither of these new pairs feel stable
- For as much as I don’t personally care for streaming, it’s increasingly clear that the VTuber space is where the future of the anime community is being shaped. In short, support indie and marginalized VTubers if you want to keep this community eclectic and awesome!
- Friends, it is #weebwednesday once again! You know the drill - quote post with your weebiest hot takes, nothing intentionally inflammatory, no racist shit, try to have fun with it ♥
- I don't understand this, though. If you're watching VTubers, you're not watching anime.
- Can I please just have a yuri about women who want to have sex with each other without it being porn or some kind of sexual dysfunction plot point? Just give me some grown up romance with two people who want to hook up with each other.
- Sometimes I wonder if they think lesbianism means sexless because any sexual desire means it's porn for men.
- There's this whole happy medium between porn with just enough plot to set the scene and two people who can't touch each other without blushing out of existence or psychoanalizing it, and I wish more yuri went there. Let the ladies have fun with their new girlfriends.
- I keep picking up manhwa series just as they go on hiatus between seasons, and it's making me itchy. I want to keep reading.
- I was so happy to see one I love had a new chapter yesterday and clicked on it and BAM! hiatus now I am dying. Hoping some that were on hiatus come back soon to make up for it.
- It's not anything that years of reading intermittently published manga hasn't trained me to survive, but my timing is a little funny lately.
- The frustrating thing is that I can't really say the stories are doing anything wrong, because mismatched desire is a perfectly valid relationship problem that couples navigate irl, but it's still frustrating to run into over and over only in the genre about women loving women.
- So, I will be running a "Sophisticatedly Unsophisticated Look at Fan Service" at Anime Boston and I would like to know, only from the ladies, what are some examples of things you consider fan service? I have my stereotype of what I think women like in fan service but I'm curious if it matches.
- The sumo wrestling episode of Golden Kamuy The ED, the boxing match, and the interrupted love scene in Bravern Captain Obi flexing his shirt off in Fire Force Nanami pulling that guy's hair in JJK
- 185. Semantic Error, Vol. 1 - licensed - When his group members no-show on a group project, a third-year comp sci student takes all of them off the credits, leaving one fourth-year design student unable to graduate, and looking for payback. Funnier than I expected, with very nice art. (Ize Press)
- 186. Diary of a Female Lead: Shujinkou Nikki, Vol. 3 - licensed - Aoi survives a beach trip with her mother, brother, and Sena without giving herself away, but the most important thing in this volume is her new classmate and friend Koto, who has short hair and wears *pants* to school. We stan.
