- Hi! 👋 If you’re not using Openvibe regularly - why not? 🤔 What should we add, fix, or improve? We’re working on some super exciting things, but we’d love to hear what you miss or wish for. Let us know in the replies! 🙏
- The lack of a web client is blocking for me, as I do most posting, scheduling, and responding from a browser window on my mac.
- Yup, I strongly concur on that one.
- This looks fun, gotta try it
- v0.1 alpha of at://2048 is now live! A full Rust 🦀 WASM powered SPA to play 2048. Can play with or without an ATProto login. But if you do, then you can sync your stats and games with your AT Protocol repo and be a part of future leaderboards! 2048.blue
- If I ever make a programming language, the syntax for accessing objects properties will be: `object + "property"` (if you understand why, you have my sympathy)
- Depending on your language background, this could *almost* make sense. A bit perverse (gotta admit I might like that), but still.
- I'm the brown m&m btw
- leaning toward brown, but quite frankly all over the colors, depending on with who, depending on context, and depending on my mood for the day.
- the thing about the “town square” analogy as it pertains to social media is that it actually does work. it’s just that “town square” meaning “saying anything to anyone without repercussions” is ridiculous. try going up to a stranger in public and saying something weird and see what happens.
- if your idea of social media is “i’m going to ignore boundaries because it’s online social media and it doesn’t matter” then you really need to reevaluate things. and that’s especially true if you think that behavior is also acceptable in the real world.
- Thank you, this seems to need repeating a little now and then. (eons ago, "everyone" knew about Netiquette...)
- the good thing about spending 6 months working on writing a zine about the terminal is that when I just saw this error message: $ rm * rm: illegal option -- b I could just pause for 5 seconds, think "oh, right, I guess I have a file that starts with -b for some reason” and then just run "rm -- *"
- For historical reference: at a time when rm didn't know --, the trick was 'rm ./*'
- Alan Turing, famously never impacted by politics. Ada Lovelace, famously never impacted by politics. John von Neumann, famously never impacted by politics. Grace Hopper, famously never impacted by politics. Dennis Ritchie, famously never impacted by politics. Annie Easley, famously never impacted b
- Alan Turing was convicted for homosexuality. Not impacted by politics, hmm? Right...
- Using something like #authentic for SSO purposes seems like a workable idea... if only the apps I want to use had support for it! >
- > But nah, the apps I'm currently looking at seem to prefer being providers, i.e. they all want to be the SSO center of attention. >
- > Looking at you, #nextcloud! (yeah yeah, there is an add-on. **untested**)
- > Looking at you, #ConcreteCMS!
- Please do read the whole thread.
- Four years ago we introduced this #curl graph
- @bagder “No new planets added for four years. Is curl losing its appeal?”
- I'm mostly a bit miffed that #curl hasn't measurably been on the moon yet 😂
- TIL about the new Git integration for @zed.dev 🎉 This was the last straw that was holding me back to switch completely from VS Code. Thank you very much! zed.dev/blog/git

View full threadyeah I intentionally didn't say to replace your emacs or vim setup with it. I just needed a reason for myself to leave VS Code 😁
- That seems like a very good reason indeed 😊
- Been eyeing that editor a few times.... Not sure, though, emacs sits so much in my fingertips
- Man kan hoppas att det här leder till ett förändrat narrativ. Det är egentligen ingen nyhet, det här har man vetat länge.
- On "how to open source project and not burn out", this is a good summary. #fossnorth
- Seminar held by @ncopa.bsky.social
- I'm going to FOSS North next week (Monday + Tuesday). Wanna meet up for a coffee or so? #FOSSNorth
- One of my friends shared an image of a fake product promising a 4600dB increase in antenna gain, and I am genuinely disturbed.
- Eh gods...
- I just set up a desk for soldering and other hardware hacking, and have discovered that my edge mount power strip doesn't work with the desk. I'm looking at recessed power strips, but I'm not sure how I'd cut a rectangular hole for one. Can I do this with a drill and a dremel? Desk is 1.5cm wood.
- Cylinder drill bit with good enough dimension for your drill, use that to drill away most of the material, then chisel away the remaining material by hand, is what I would do.
- Emacs. I could never get used to vi's modality
- OH: You're not cis enough to be a sister-wife.
- I have been informed that I should have spelled it "cister-wife".
- That.... could be funny, but probably depends on who's mouth it came out of...
- “Mundus sine caesaribus” is a phrase I can get along with. (from fediversereport.com/atmosphere-r...)
- Dear Computer Friends: please provide your clearest, most concise and most enlightening discussion on the lvalue/rvalue distinction in programming languages, in a way that acknowledges the vast historical and present depth of the subject while avoiding getting lost in the weeds. Shitposts optional.
-
View full thread(For reference: I think the thing that gets most vexing about lvalue-rvalue is that many languages have _reified addresses_ in the form of first class pointers, and these are themselves treated as either lvalue-like or rvalue-like by context, so it doesn't do to talk in terms of addresses alone.)
- Funny.... I'm thinking of an r-value not so much in terms of of what it *is*, but more in terms of what you do with it (it's purpose, perhaps?). I don't really see a conflict with the fact that it can itself become an l-value as well.
- WiFi SSIDs Tired: (puns) "Pretty fly for a WiFi" Wired: (emoji) "🏠🛜" Inspired: (OPSEC): "xfinitywifi"
- Dunno about you, but I love the tired pun. #musicalmind
- On my other account I post photos with random musings and get a modest amount of likes. On this account I post various other geekery and sometimes shout opinions into the void. I can’t be arsed to actively try to build a following, so a void it will remain.

View full threadMm... these days, I'd like to make something distributed, to avoid the necessity to rely on one single host. ... come to think of it, it could probably be built on top of ATproto, all that's really needed is a language for proper linking of posts.
- ... and the possibility to make longer posts. Microblogging only gets us so far...
- I really miss KOM, only not enough to host my own shell server for it.
- Hmmm... is KOM still a viable thing? I haven't been on it for aaaages, but if it's still viable, I could actually see myself hosting it.
- Facebook killed most web forums and replaced them with groups where a post is buried after a day or even a couple of minutes. People ask the same things over and over, and twenty people give the same reply. And so many “likes” instead of proper interaction.
- Yeah... the "likes" attract lazy me, but I do miss the simpler and more talkative times as well. I'm trying to transition away from Facebook and the like. It's going so-so, but ya know, baby steps?
- I wish at least a few more friends would come here and be active, so that it felt more like an actual chamber. Until then I’ll probably mostly be over at my other account, looking at photos of fungi, trees, and sunsets.
- > ... be active Yeah I get ya, actual interaction seems to come at a premium > I wish ... Yup, me too. But... ATproto is still fairly new compared to ActivityPub, so perhaps as time goes by, it will get better?
- Well, your echo chamber (oh sorry, void) isn't entirely empty...
- [pffff] I'd argue that at least Trump has too much makeup already...
- Is it just me, or is China having one "hold my beer" moment after another with regards to AI?
- (@emelina81.bsky.social just made me aware of Manus)
- Somewhere in Poland, 1991. They had a lot of repairs to do after the end of the communist era. Going through my old photos, I kind of miss the b&w analog era. Back then I wished I had colour and a zoom lens. #BlueSkyArtShow #Windows #Monochrome #Photography #Poland

- Out for a walk by the lake Mälaren, somewhere near Blackeberg.
- With me are @emelina81.bsky.social and a close friend. They are the ones who lured me out, I think. I easy to convince today...
- It's quite possible to go analogue again, and pretty nice and relaxing
- For anyone who has to stay on the metaplane for now, this is a good way of keeping them as uninformed as possible. buttondown.com/practicaltip...
- Thank you!
- Yesyesyes, this! I'm all for it!
- I just installed the Flashes app from @flashes.blue It looks great and brings you back the “instagram experience” for your bluesky feeds if you’ve missed it. I can’t decide though. I was doomscrolling a lot on insta, so it’s not just positive vibes for me. I’ll switch between them for a while.
- I'm quite curious about it... but have to wait, 'cause you know, Android.
- Some people can't see the difference between critique and outright hostility. That's quite sad, and unfortunate, especially since the resulting enmity tends to act as a silencer.
- Keep the patch panel or just connect the cables to the switch directly?
- I always ask if the patch panel is worth it. Oftentimes, I find that for a small network, not really, 'cause it seldom changes enough to be a bother.
- You can also use plain text files for a variety of functions from telling stories and taking notes to creating #todo.txt or similar files or #emacs org mode files. Have a favorite use for plain text files? Share it with us. Join us in celebrating #DocumentFreedomDay on March 26, 2025. #DFF #FLOSS
- Org-mode, markdown, rst, asciidoc,... and occasionally probably a few more that I forget
- one of my cats managed to get soaking wet during standup (?????) and now im drying them off
- watching @hailey.at's kittens wreak absolute havoc on her apartment is my favorite part of standup
- I'm glad my old cat comes onto my lap to purr during our standups
- I started following a few Finnish accounts in order to see the Finnish takes on Putin-Trump-Ukraine. To put it mildly, people aren’t happy. Some people in the comments are even saying Finland needs nukes. Swedish politicians and media are too quiet about Trump in general. Cowards.
- .... and we joined NATO. Just in time [sigh]
- I'm now fully cross-following myself between bluesky and mastodon. Not sure if that's a good thing, but hey, interesting times, yeah?
- Web spam.... How charming. My brother called to say his computer was infected by a virus. Right, it turned out that there was a site (somethingcryptic.vpcfirewall.xyz) that was bombarding him with notifications. >
- > Blocking notifications from that site was all that was needed. Thankfully.
