- @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats are united in our fight to protect Medicaid and the people who rely on Medicaid in #TX07 and across the country. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has found that today's bill will take health care away from nearly 14 million Americans.
- And so it begins. @energycommerce.bsky.social now meeting to mark up our part of the Republicans' disastrous budget. Follow along as Democrats on my committee fight to protect people who rely on Medicaid and more.
- Reposted by Congresswoman Lizzie FletcherRepublicans are going to try to take health care away from tens of millions of Americans to give tax breaks to the wealthy and corporate interests. - As Congressional Republicans debate seriously devastating funding cuts behind closed doors, this is what the United States House of Representatives actually debated and voted on this week. As someone who has lived nearly all my life near the Gulf of Mexico, I voted no.

- This Hurricane Preparedness Week, we need to make sure that our region is prepared. But the staffing cuts the Trump administration has imposed mean we're losing key staff at NWS Houston/Galveston. We need to know more about how this critical office will be prepared this hurricane season and beyond.
- Not a hard question. Not an acceptable answer.
- The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston will soon lose all of its leadership staff because of President Trump's staffing cuts. It's Hurricane Preparedness Week and it's time to ask how the agency plans to continue providing critical services amid these cuts.

- In the last 6 years, Texas has received nearly $4 billion in FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants to help local gov & nonprofit organizations build more resilient communities. Cutting this isn't just short-sighted—it's dangerous. Houstonians and people across our country deserve so much better.
- As I said when it was issued, President Trump's executive order targeting the Smithsonian Institution is an affront to understanding our U.S. history and to generations of Americans. Glad to join @pressley.house.gov in demanding an investigation into the impacts of this dangerous order.
- President Trump inherited a strong economy — and in just 100 days, he’s driven it toward recession.
- For decades, HHS has engaged with the public about policies that directly affect their lives and livelihoods. Now, the Trump administration wants to end that. @amo.house.gov, @quigley.house.gov, and I introduced a resolution to reaffirm the importance of public engagement. ⬇️
- During President Trump's first 100 days, House Republicans have rubber stamped his actions, even ones that are unconstitutional. But courageous people are fighting these actions in courthouses across the country. Our House Litigation Working Group is tracking these efforts here:

In today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repbarragan.bsky.social recaps how Republicans are making life worse for Americans – raising costs and taking away health care to give tax breaks to billionaires.
- President Trump and his special employee Elon Musk have created chaos at the Social Security Administration, closing offices and cutting staff. That means more waiting and uncertainty. I'm working to stop them. Read more about the impacts on access to Social Security here ➡️

- Because of the funding cuts to USAID to NIH and CDC, the Trump administration has undone decades of work and made the chance of preventing the spread of malaria much worse—jeopardizing the health of people around the world and at home in the U.S. #WorldMalariaDay
- Make no mistake—abortion bans are only the start. Anti-choice groups are challenging birth control protections in court and spreading misinformation about contraception. Our bodily autonomy is under attack. We must protect it by passing the #RightToContraception Act.

- #MedicaidMatters for all of us. The House Republican budget plan to cut it is reckless.
- This #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, I'm thinking of Porsha Ngumezi, whose miscarriage led to her death in a state where cruel abortion laws interfere with women's health care. Her family is missing a mother and wife because the State of Texas is failing the women who live here. ➡️
- 🧵 Social Security is the cornerstone of the American promise—a commitment that, after a lifetime of work, every American has the right to retire with dignity and economic security.
- Republicans on my committee complained recently that Democratic debate was slowing down consideration of bills. Which is kind of crazy because we signed off on most of them last year and were ready to pass them until Elon Musk tweeted that he didn't like them. That's the delay.
