I'm actually super fascinated by the research into properties of misinformation and combatting misinformation as a (retired) educator because much of it sheds light on the huge issue of flawed pedagogy and learners internalizing bad information. I'm always reading the papers with that in mind.
yeah we honestly need to book up on this stuff, the situation is...woeful
It is, but even beyond politics and current events, simple things like "mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell" and "three states of matter" and the impact of weird, often incorrect ideas becoming lodged in a learner's foundational information is a really weird but real case of the problem!
