Update: The OpenAI board has unanimously rejected $97.4 Billion.
The OpenAI board has unanimously rejected a $97.4 billion takeover bid from a consortium led by Elon Musk, emphasizing that the company is not for sale.
Elon just made Sam Altman's life a lot harder. He is willing to buy OpenAI for $97 billion, and Sam only offered $40 billion for it.
Feb 16, 2025 22:11The board seems to stand strong behind Sam and his vision of OpenAI, shortly after Sam laid out OpenAI's roadmap to release GPT-5 and ship an all-in-one product, instead of new poorly named models.
The vision is that we won't need to know which model we're using, as long as the user gets what they need from ChatGPT and all of OpenAI's product offerings.
Solid approach, and great vision in my opinion.
