the people asking me to work on their dream game for no pay may want to consider that i'd rather work on MY dream game for no pay
May 13, 2025 23:22I once got to help write someone else's dream game for what was, to me, a lot of money. 10/10 would go back, learn more, do again
Even WITH pay, it's a big ask. Games take years, the pay is weaker than adjacent industries, and there's just so much instability. Their idea better be great enough for others to get personal fulfilment from the work because it might not even make it to the finish line. Games are a risky choice.
tell them to do the coding for your game for no pay first to prove themselves
How about WE work on YOUR dream game for no pay
your dream game should be titled "no pay" such a banger title
It's worse if the one requesting that is the idea guy too xd
They should reverse the offer, they should work on your dream game for no pay.
Can I work on your dream game for yummy snacks?
(Im kidding)
Legit, there has to be some financial incentives. At least offer me some royalty deal for 1% if you can't pay 🫠
(I say this as a man that went to college in Boston for game art and not making it my main job due to the market)
Haha
