- February's Month in a Minute video is here! This is the view looking north from #UVic last month. I've also posted my little summary of the weather. It’s at victoriaweather.ca/summaries.php #VictoriaBC #Saanich
- That's a really cool idea!
- 3D animation / sim of a the antimatter sea inside a proton particle. Originally for Quanta, 2021. INFO → www.olenashmahalo.com/project/prot... #SciArt #physics #particlephysics 🧪 ⚛️ #3D #3Dart #C4D #mograph #NoAI
-
View full threadThe proton was modeled with gluons (using the Y shape, not triangle (E.g. ALT)). But it's blurry; the cloudy appearance took precedence. Since this was originally for an editorial article header, it's just meant to convey the "particle sea", not ID / explain particulars as a figure/graphic would.
- That's interesting. As I said, it is a visually appealing (artistic) animation and that is a difficult thing to do for the strong force!
- Please join us on Friday, March 7th at 2:00pm PST for an in-person seminar by Dr. Christopher Charles, TRIUMF ✨ For more information scan the QR code or follow the link below: www.uvic.ca/science/phys... #Seminar #TRIUMF #UVic #UniversityofVictoria #yyjevents
- Definitely artistic in this case. Thank you!
- I would be interested to know more about your artistic inspiration. It looks a bit like the quantum representation that I saw on YouTube recently, but adding in the strong charge (colour). Did you consider including the gluons? Does your representation include sea quarks or just valence quarks?
- Was this an artistic simulation, or are you simulating the wave function derived from the Dirac equation? Visually, it looks wonderful!
- Check out this interview with UVic Astronomy and Cosmology professor, Dr. Jon Willis, where he talks about the asteroid 2024 YR4 and its risk of colliding with Earth. News Article: www.saanichnews.com/local-news/c...
- Please join us on Wednesday, March 5th at 3:30 p.m. PST for an in-person colloquium by Dr. Isabel Trigger, TRIUMF ✨ For more information: events.uvic.ca/physics/even... #Colloquium #UVic #UniversityofVictoria #yyjevents
- Did you know... Picasso and other artists were inspired by Math and Physics? The development of ideas around higher dimensions led some artists to consider what it would like to depict a 4D view of a 3D object on a 2D artistic medium. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_...
- Either way, it sucks. But at least there’s some fun physics to ponder while you’re sitting in the repair shop.
- If we are pondering physics, then neither is appropriate. A collision occurred between a rock and a windshield. All frames of reference are equally valid.
- Upcoming space events - things to look out for! highplainsobservercanadian.com/happy-starga...
- When you run into your @phys-astro-uvic.bsky.social colleague at the airport. Meet Geoff, a part-time physics professor and a part-time Westjet pilot. How cool is that?! @uvicscience.bsky.social
- A professor by day, a pilot by flight! 👨🏫👨✈️
- Please join us on Wednesday, February 26 at 3:30 p.m. PST for an in-person colloquium by Dr. Suzie Sheehy, University of Melbourne ✨ For more information: events.uvic.ca/physics/even... #Colloquium #UVic #UniversityofVictoria #yyjevents #LansdowneLecture
