- I agree with most of it. While 2000IU per day is suitable for most, if you have been deficient in vit. D, you will need larger doses for the first few weeks. I don't know why doctors do not recommend vit. D enough, as it fixes a large amount of issues! x.com/BrandonLuuMD...
- Dear PhDs and postdocs: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! This includes even negative results or things that seem very minor such as optimizing protocols. This will help you substantially during discussions with your supervisors, during interviews and also increase clarity of thoughts.
- I agree. Also, vitamin D really helps with depression, fatigue and brain fog.
- Totally agree! I am still in shock to see the kind of attacks to silence views coming from scientists from prestigious universities. Given this, how can one trust their science?
- It is clear from being in bsky that scientists here are highly disconnected from reality and the needs of a common person. If this same attitude continues, then I won't be surprised to see even further decline! Academic science is dying!
- No wonder people are losing trust in science, believe climate change is a hoax and don't trust vaccines. Clearly, scientists here on bsky are highly disconnected from the reality of a common person and basically how the world works. No one is going to read your papers, Academic science is dying.
- It is appalling to see the so-called scientists from "prestigious" univesities not engaging in a civil discourse rather than jumping on silencing you with their attacks. I won't be trusting your science for one and no one should!
- If you are selective about what science to believe to suit your pre-conceived notions then I would assume you are carrying your biases in your research as well. I would run far away from your research and won't trust your science. I feel very sorry for your lab members. I hope they find a better pl

- Ironically, I found more hate and empty beliefs than logical reasoning and a civilized debate! Really disappointed!

- I am not complicit in violence. I am merely stating facts here. If you think attacking me gives you peace then please do so. But you should know that you cannot ignore facts, especially being a biologist yourself!
- This is great for a bookmark! x.com/Scholarshipf...

- Woow! There is so much hate in here! I was really expecting bsky is all about being nice to each other. I was wrong! If my views are what you say then why don't you show me the evidence instead of attacking me constantly?

- On a serious note: it is common if you are a beginner. I would suggest taking it easy and just sticking to basics. Use lower weights like 5kg/ 10lbs etc. Then slowly increase weights as comfortable and do it not more than 4 days a week. That is good enough for most people.

- I meant preparation in terms of getting the fire fighters etc quickly before it spread widely. But I do understand that maybe complicated than it looks from the outside.
- Why does this keep happening every year? And why they haven't prepared for this? I mean, if I can remember seeing the same news every year, then it could have been anticipated and prepared well? Please someone tell me I am missing something!

- PhD dominates your life leaving no room for social life. Do not let that happen. You will need your personal/ social life as well as time to plan/ take care of your health.

- I can't talk about things that I don't know. I haven't watched Simpsons.
- It is like I am talking to walls! I keep getting attacked for absolutely no reason. No one is trying to explain why they believe what they believe!

- PhD in Biology. sorry I've decided to be anonymous here.

- See my response above where I mentioned "exceptions". They are strictly determined by chromosomes and where they are not, they are exceptions. It doesn't affect me personally, I am just curious to learn. I am here to exchange ideas.

- No about the cost. I have a PhD!
- This is not business as usual. It’s not just a change in funding priorities going forward; it is the reneging on funding agreements and is profoundly disruptive for even those grants that will be found to be compliant. Meanwhile, trainees who often live paycheck to paycheck are going unpaid.

- Lol! I am not seeking your validation. I am saying what I am. 😂

- Yes, I am using interchangeably especially in humans because I don't see any evidence otherwise. The things other people point out are exceptions and you cannot make rules based on exceptions. Feel free to disagree, I am here for a healthy discourse.

- No, I help for free. I am here to help using all my experience of gruelling through my academic career and successfully obtaining a job outside of academia. I want to teach what I would have loved to learn about during my difficult times! I want to support everyone in need!

- So, how actually did blocking me help?

- It was in the context of an article about humans, which the person has now deleted, because the person realized I was right!
- Why does everyone here seem so upset and frustrated? I am a regular person who loves to exchange ideas and it seems like I am walking on egg shells here! Gosh, grow up!

- They are not other species, they are human beings just like you and me: Homo sapiens. Yes, their gender is determined by their chromosomes, because chromosomes determine physiological and physical parts.
- Yes, that some is an exception and not a rule!
- This is false!

- I am a trained biologist, 15+ years. I know what I stood for and stand for because I know the basics!
- And how is this response not attacking or polite? Talk about toxicity!

- Please enlighten me. I am curious by nature, show me scientific evidence and I am willing to change my mind. Did you realize you are attacking me while I am simply putting my viewpoints?
- Lesson 6: Stay ahead of the curve. Practice agility, Nimbleness. They will serve you for long and you will naturally succeed in any path you take.
- A few of the most important qualities you will develop as a PhD student are: perseverance, resilience, humility, gratitude, and persistence. Learn to sell these qualities during your interviews.
- I disagree! Scientists, of all people, should be involved in politics. What you are seeing in EU is the result of scientists avoiding politics!
- They already did 3, 4 for years and look where they are now! People can't even afford food!

- Biologists, Doctors were spectators when they were needed the most, when people were claiming using puberty blockers is reversible and we don't know how to differentiate b/w male and female (ref. Paris Olympics). Clearly, nobody liked all these (hence the election result) and you now see consequences
- And yet, everyone are sleeping on this! Why are so-called big shots not doing anything about it?
- Maybe biologists should have stepped-up when some people had doubts about how to differentiate between male and female; injecting kids with puberty blockers etc!
- Spend more time in the lab doing bench work if you want to get good at it! Spend more time writing your manuscript if you want to get good at it. Spend more time writing cover letters and learning about them if you want to get good at it! There are tips and tricks but no shortcut.
- It is a wake up call to PhDs: if your PhD is not in an area that has direct societal/ industrial impact then you won't get a job! It is as simple as that. So, be careful what subject you choose and if the place/ lab has good networks with industries. Be smart and agile!
- I mean, you can still get some job but don't expect to be in the area of your PhD!
- Lesson 5: Limited multitasking - If you are reading papers to formulate the hypothesis, take your time to read the most important papers and make 5 sentence summaries. This will help you later on during writing a paper or thesis.
- Lesson 4: FOCUS
- Always think about the big picture of your project

- Lesson 10: Read papers unrelated to your topic: Often times, a new idea comes from outside of your field. Reading papers from a different topic/ field will help open up your perspectives to different ideas and reset your mind and thinking. An open mind is a God’s paradise!
