I don’t understand how news outlets keep credulously writing this same article every year. Gates made the same promise to give away all his wealth in 2010 when he was worth $53 billion. He’s currently worth $108 billion.

I mean, the Gates Foundation has given away $70 billion since he said that in 2010. This seems to be an announcement of accelerating the plan and to sunset the foundation in 2045. What would you prefer he do exactly?

It’s the same thing as companies making climate promises of “net zero by 2035” and the like. Let’s report once these people and companies actually do the thing! Not when they make a verbal promise they can abandon tomorrow
