The US spent a very long time in Afghanistan and made major utilization of locals (not just employment, but often as interpreters and similar roles) who would immediately become targets once the US military was no longer there to protect them.

Revoking it now, and having never granted it to many folks left in AF, will mean that the NEXT time we try to have trust from folks out of a different culture, even for Dept. of State and not DoD, we will be scorned.
