Did she literally burn it down?

Yes.. She was smoking at a young age (12 I think?) threw her cigarette into a brush pile when she was about to get caught.. late summer, dry grass, no fire department.. Eight acres of Apple, Peach, pear and quince, plus about 11 acres of pasture… up in proverbial flames…
