found a friend! who is about to get loaded in the car and dropped off on the opposite side of town
May 6, 2025 06:25who tf reposted this that the replies are suddenly incredibly annoying
this is great, I found the RT and blocked them and the annoying replies from their followers stopped instantly, we love to see it!
anyway for those of you who have no familiarity with rodents outside of Ratatouille, this is not a rat
two things are simultaneously true: I personally prefer not to kill unnecessarily, and it is also not my job to keep wild animals alive.
for the avoidance of all doubt, I do not care what you think about my stance on either of these points!
turned the replies off because y’all are insufferable

He looks like he’s going to get sent to the bank teller via pneumatic tube
The thread author limited who can reply.
Your friend is luckier than the friend I found this AM, the victim of a crime my cat claimed to know nothing about
The thread author limited who can reply.
But he’s got no friends on the other side of town.
The thread author limited who can reply.
No…!!!
Not Mr Jingles.

There was a patch where I'd regularly have the mouse trap on my lap on the drive to school (Mum worked at my school at the time; on days when she didn't, I took the bus) so we could drop them off at a park on the way. Had to hold the trap so it didn't pop open on speed bumps and release the mouse.

I thought you’d got hold of one of those tubes they used to use in the bank drive through and I was so excited to learn what you were going to do with it.
Guess saving some field mice is cool too.
The thread author limited who can reply.
But that's friend shaped

Not sure about the US but in Australia it is against the law to relocate possums, marsupial mice, etc. Relocating possums can be a death sentence. They are territorial, and if moved to an unfamiliar area, they may struggle to find food, shelter and water, potentially leading to starvation and death

When my kid was little I did this with rats
We had an infestation when the city redid the sewer lines and *14* rats entered the house
Huge sewer rats
My hunter kitty got the first one and then noped out of it
She would literally LEAD me to where it was and help corner it, but would not engage

Nice mousetrap. Thanks for doing it humanely. I've seen the horror of a gluetrap. Took me half a bottle of olive oil to get him out of it
The thread author limited who can reply.
We do the same in our house. All life respected.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Thank you for not hurting it.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Just going to let him be someone else's problem? A female rat typically births six litters a year consisting of 12 baby rats, although 5-10 is more common. Rats reach sexual maturity after 4-5 weeks, a population can swell from two rats to around 1,250 in one year.
The thread author limited who can reply.
The trap is really nifty.
The thread author limited who can reply.
you mean you've kidnapped a citizen from its home and now you're sending it to a place far away? somewhere it's never been before. where it has no family, maybe no place to live? no food?
Sorry jk :D
The thread author limited who can reply.
Just did same for little critter nesting in my car.

Love this! I ended up with 2 mice when someone moved in above me and the mice must have dropped out of his moving boxes to land in my doorway. Not knowing that, I happened to open my door. 😬 Got a lovely mouse-safe trap and delivered them back into the wild near a slow river.
The thread author limited who can reply.
I have had a mouse in the house and I really do not like them. Even so, I’d never use a glue trap. Those are horrific. I’m glad this trap works.
You probably don’t want to know how we finally stopped our mouse problem, but it was not with traps.

"So, remember, anybody needing a ride to Ratfest '25, just remember to be at Madeline's, sometime late tonight....she's providing free snacks, and transportation....and, now, the weather..."
The thread author limited who can reply.
What kinda trap is that ? The mice here mastered the HD Live Traps, They eat some treats and let themselves out ( they are so cute but so annoying ).
We also relocate them to fields by the forest within a few miles of our home. I read somewhere mice roam up to 5 mile areas, good to keep in mind
The thread author limited who can reply.
He’s worth $10 if you know someone with a pet snake. Just saying
The thread author limited who can reply.
I get it! Me too...I take them 4 towns away from here. I just can't kill them.
The thread author limited who can reply.
If you attach the tube to your exhaust pipe you will avoid transferring your problem to the opposite side of town...
That or take the rat to the vet and have it neutered/spayed so it does not propagate further...
The thread author limited who can reply.
Please don't release it outdoors ... they usually won't survive. An abandoned building or out building, like a tool shed is best. We released ours (several miles away, of course) near a cluster of abandoned shacks not too far away from a restaurants dumpsters.
The thread author limited who can reply.
We drop them at whichever rink we’re visiting that day.
The thread author limited who can reply.
I got some birth control. It's made from cotton seed oil. It can help reduce numbers along with trapping.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Make sure it’s in the rich, stuck up part of town
The thread author limited who can reply.
Seal up the points of entry to prevent them from coming in
The thread author limited who can reply.
What is this device? Did you make it? Thank you
The thread author limited who can reply.
Thank you for being a nice human
The thread author limited who can reply.
I have a sincere question, I understand your seemingly doing the most humane thing by not killing them. When you take them to the other end of town and drop them off, did you mean to misplace them? You've taken an animal from a group because they live in a group and you removed him miles away?
The thread author limited who can reply.
Don't hurt her.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Meanwhile someone from the opposite side of town is doing the same thing 😆
The thread author limited who can reply.
What's your beef with the other side of town?
The thread author limited who can reply.
That’s the traps I got! What did you use for bait? Our rats definitely like dry cat food and dog treats, as they ate them puts the traps, but said lol as if to going into a trap for them. I worried peanut butter in an attic in Baton Rouge would be gloopy mess.
The thread author limited who can reply.
You and my wife!
I swear!
The thread author limited who can reply.
So, it's someone else's problem? 🤔
The thread author limited who can reply.
Awwww…but look at those eyes! Nice trap!
The thread author limited who can reply.
Someone else’s problem? I understand. I once found a kangaroo mouse hiding from my thug of a cat. That mouse was the cutest thing i ever saw! Caught it easily, but realized it was a baby. I walked our in bi 40 acres trying to find a safe place to release it.
The thread author limited who can reply.
You probably found it because someone caught it on that side of town and was also too scared to kill it
The thread author limited who can reply.
If it finds it's way to my house it dies.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Where did you find that ? I have a little mouse in my house and I don’t wanna kill them either but I’ve got to get rid of him! This looks fabulous.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Thank you for rehoming!

There's one living in my house who's about to take a similar trip!
The thread author limited who can reply.
We used those humane traps and would drop them off a a close church. I figured god would be OK with seeing another of his critters on those grounds....right?
The thread author limited who can reply.
I always prided myself in relocating these and other pesty rodents to better neighborhoods, usually parks, wooded areas, etc. Found that 5 miles was about the distance needed to discourage return.
The thread author limited who can reply.
I’ve never seen this type of trap. Nice.
The thread author limited who can reply.
With friends like that…
The thread author limited who can reply.
Didja call ghostbusters? That’s some high tech there.
The thread author limited who can reply.
You are very humane.
The thread author limited who can reply.
This reminds me of when I lived in the Caribbean and a guy I knew trapped a Boa and told me “Yeah, I took it in the truck and let it go two miles down the road.”
Where I lived. Thanks Jason!
The thread author limited who can reply.
Squatting pays!! 🧀🧀🧀
The thread author limited who can reply.
I did this for a bunch. Learned the hard way, you do want to remove them more than 2 miles away. It was some work for a while, but glad I did it. Learned a ton.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Flush it down the toilet the other side of town dont want it either
The thread author limited who can reply.
We used to get mice in our desks at work. We’d put peanut butter in our metal trash cans, they’d climb in and feast, but couldn’t climb out. We’d walk them over to the open field next door and let them go.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Why don't you let him stay and cook you dinner 🐭🧑🍳
The thread author limited who can reply.
How about at the dump, cuz I’m sure the people across town are eagerly awaiting your friends drop off.
The thread author limited who can reply.
What is it???
The thread author limited who can reply.
You're more patient than I. I just take them to the green space at the end of our development.
I was going to say there's no way I could deal with them in my car, but my Giardia positive rescue puppy has twice shat in my car resulting in a very expensive detail & the replacement of the dog sling.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Meanwhile on the other side of town they are loading up his friends to drop them at your house.
The thread author limited who can reply.
why ?? so it can invade someone else's house and spread killer diseases ??
#WATTAMORONThe thread author limited who can reply.
I hate to kill rats or anything, really, but do you really want to release one on some one else's neighborhood in light how how prolific they are?
www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/...
One pair of rats can produce half a BILLION descendants in three years
A female rat typically births six litters per year, consisting of around 12 pups. But rats don't outnumber humans because some factors keep their populations from spiraling out of control.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Overnight him to the biggest rat's nest in Florida, Mar-a-Rato.
The thread author limited who can reply.
Your middle initial wouldn't happen to be R, would it? Asking for a friend. 😹
The thread author limited who can reply.
I just bought the same trap but no takers yet!
What are you using for bait?
The thread author limited who can reply.
oh man
The thread author limited who can reply.
Basically a relocation camp for critters.
The thread author limited who can reply.
I have that same trap but it's green. They work great!
The thread author limited who can reply.
That’ll actually work! Boost some local genetics!
