- NEW: A judge has ruled that Rikers must appoint an independent manager. This is a crucial step toward ending the abuse + violence at one of the deadliest jails in the country. But decarceration + permanent closure must remain the ultimate goal. NYC must close Rikers once + for all. Our statement:
- Due process is constitutional and non-negotiable.

- A lawyer for anti-war activist Mahmoud Khalil, currently being held by ICE, says she was barred from using a computer in a key hearing—an example, experts say, of the unfairness of immigration court. www.wired.com/story/comput...
- "I am absent not out of apathy, but conviction:” 2 months ago, ICE tore Mahmoud from his home and his then-pregnant wife. He has been in immigration detention in Louisiana ever since - unable to witness the birth of his first child. Read the letter he wrote to his son, welcoming him to the world:
- It's been well over 200 years since anyone referred to the 5th Amendment as new or "out of nowhere" 🧐
- Last night, security officers at Columbia pushed and shoved multiple student protesters to the ground. Then, at a protest outside campus, an NYPD officer was recorded punching a protester in the face, and another officer was seen shoving dozens of demonstrators. This is outrageous and unacceptable.
