- OH filmed the night sky above our suburban garden last night — & captured something absolutely full of wonder & awe to me. It gives me delight.
- Yes! More food for joy. Even individual, temporary justice leans us closer to full justice.
- @civileats.com does fantastic work reporting on US food supply. “Oatman Flats Ranch is attempting to create a sustainable, scalable model for regenerative farming in the Southwest, demonstrating what can and perhaps should be grown in an increasingly hot, dry, and water-limited region.”
- The moon just resting for a moment at its bedside before retiring, just where the sun’s first glow is gilding the ridge. As if the moon, like me, were waiting for that.
- Today I am living proof that compression socks & a sports bra can, in fact, be the only things holding a human upright.
- My extraordinary friend-of-many-decades, Dr. John Francis, is fundraising to continue his walk the length of Africa promoting kids' citizen science & kindness. He has previously walked all across the US & down through Latin America, among many amazing adventures. He's a Good Egg. gofund.me/5dd7f6e5
- Standing daydreaming on the back steps, soaking up morning sun, when I realised a young jackrabbit had come around the corner without spotting me at all. He saw me, turned tail… then a few minutes later had circled all the way around the house & approached from my other side…only to be foiled again!
- Listening this morning first to Melissa Harrison welcoming back the swifts (5 years ago) then to the new @robcowen.bsky.social book on the BBC. Surges of memory of an enchanted, still-unbelievable summer evening on the shore of Ullswater in 2018… (1/?)
- So many movements & mutterings in the tall grass at sunrise — & in one spot, a pair of tall, dark-tipped ears where a jackrabbit crouches. Yesterday’s fine May rain (the last?) has not interrupted the hills’ inexorable turn toward gold.
- Sure you might have a $400M Qatari spyjet but I just started my week with a fresh egg that was still warm from the chicken’s nether bits.
