Being a billionaire in the United States feels basically identical whether you have $10B or $100B, but feels very different if you can sexually harass your au pair and she can quit and get a different job vs if she is desperate to keep her job and has to put up with it because the economy is shit.
it is because they want to impoverish the country! they don’t want high end manufacturing. they want americans working subsistence wages making t shirts and clothes hangers
Increasing wealth in relative terms is a very different thing from increasing wealth in absolute terms.
Wealth that can be traded for goods is one kind of satisfaction, but wealth that gives power over people is absolutely corrupting.
