- Ohio appellate practice note: After off-the-bench comments by a couple Ohio Supreme Court justices, “friend on the other side” has become “colleague on the other side” for regular practitioners. #AppellateSky
- Today, I tried something new—taking the bus to an Ohio Supreme Court OA. I liked that I could review briefs as I rode, but I made one mistake. I keep my fountain pens in a case in my backpack, which I didn’t bring, and I realized on the way that I didn’t have even one pen. #AppellateSky

- I agree to the extent this post explains why some people speak with the police. For the most part, they’re not stupid. Just human. - Ohio would be better with a lot less property tax IF replaced by income taxes & a higher CAT (which this measure wouldn’t do), but the “we only tax 35% of the property value” line is misleading. Local gov’t sets rates assuming the 35% rule, so rates are 3x higher than if 100% of value were taxed.

- Another Trump vanity parade is better than throwing them into the sea, I guess.
