America’s Constitutional crisis was 2017-2024, starting as soon as the Constitution’s bans on bribery were no longer in effect, and going through the elevation of an anti-Constitution criminal granted permission by the Supreme Court to break laws.
We are now in the post-Constitutional crisis.
It is important to recognize that a president who takes bribes and a Congress that lets that slide was itself a Constitutional crisis.
Banning bribery was so important, the Founders had the Constitution forbid it three times, including as the only directly named impeachable offense besides treason.
May 11, 2025 13:06I can hear the counters already: No, it’s not a Constitutional crisis when the president takes bribes violating a crucial part of the Constitution, it’s only a crisis if he says “I hereby defy a Supreme Court order.”
That’s complicity. Complicity like that is a big part of why we’re in this mess.
Yeah, the "Constitutional crisis" is because all three branches are violating the Constitution in their own particular ways. That makes it much more difficult to reverse course and get back to some semblance of legality and order.
they even specifically say "accepting bribes from foreign countries is (supposed to be) your ass."
When this is all over we need some sort of reset morally. Like what will be acceptable? It’s as though we are all victims of an abusive relationship and need to relearn our worth.

It was the best argument against instituting a republic.
Two of only three Constitutional qualifications for President address foreign influence.
Given average lifespans around the world I think I can confidently say that no one alive today on the planet Earth will live long enough to see America’s reputation restored from the legacy of Trump being voted into office for a second term.
The U.S. pissed away the entire 21st century & then some.
I feel like we've already had maybe ten constitutional crises and a couple of five-alarm fires, might need to bring to update the five-alarm metric to six-alarm or seven. Unfortunately not hyperbole as far as this staggeringly corrupt administration goes.
Does the Constitution say anything about extortion and blackmail?
