- The idea that the Mavericks, who traded away a top player, who got his team to the #3 seed, "won" because they missed the playoffs but got a maybe someday in the future good player, while the Warriors, who traded for an already great player and made it far in the playoffs, "lost" is just silly.
- The Warriors knocked out the 2nd Seed, and played in 12 playoff games, the most lucrative ones for teams. They were a Curry injury away from a likely WCF. They easily won … this is a silly take.

- Charles Barkley is absurdly talented in many ways, but the line of thinking that could let you put Kobe > LeBron James (and Magic!!) is the same line of thinking that would allow someone to shoot > 2,000 three pointers when they're 26.6% from beyond the arc.
- Tanking is dead and the #1 pick isn't saving your NBA Franchise! #NBADraft nerdnumbers.substack.com/p/the-end-of... Years(years!!) ago, I wrote about how a top pick isn't saving your franchise, and the irony for the Mavericks is that Luka Doncic was one of the last examples that maybe it could.
- The reality with how the NCAA "lifespan" of a future NBA player has shortened and how the global market has increased, I have more faith a well-run team with a 10-20 pick can get a future star than a poorly run team can get a future star with picks 1-3 in the #NBADraft.

- Here's a "fun" state for the #NBAPlayoffs. For the Celtics vs. the Knicks. Total Quarters where Boston had the lead most / all of the quarter: 15 Total Quarters where New York had the lead most / all of the quarter: 1 New York's up 3-1 ... fyi thanks @pmgameflows.bsky.social gameflows!
- There's something intrinsically amusing about the Dallas Mavericks "winning" the NBA Draft Lottery by shipping out Luka Doncic and missing the playoffs, and wondering - "What kind of player could they get?" as Jalen Brunson has the Knicks one game from the Conference Finals.

- At this point, I’m rooting for an ABA finals in the NBA playoffs. Go Pacers! Go Nuggets!

- Tyrese Haliburton had better get a fine for mimicking Reggie Miller's choke gesture if this happens.
- Today's #NBATrivia via @basketball-reference.com's amazing @stathead.com tools. Two-parter, possibly related. 1. Only one team has 2+ games won in the #NBAPlayoffs by 40+ in a single off-season. 2. Only one team has given up 40+ points five times in their #NBAPlayoffs history. Name those teams!

- Reposted by Andrés AlvarezWhat should the Timberwolves do to make more wide open shots that they've made all year? They should make them, but also they might not. This is how shooting variance works No one is arguing that GSW is defending particularly well.
- Here's the problem with the AI era. For a lot of education, the goal is honestly learning by doing. Think "Karate Kid" same actions over and over to learn. But that's not how school is graded; it's graded on outcome. That's been a problem for a while. "Back in my day," it was "CliffsNotes." e.g.
- FYI, the way salaries work in the NBA is literally based on how much money the league is bringing in. That means, if someone says - "The NBA is in trouble" it is directly at odds with "Players making too much money." Anyway, the highest average salary in the NBA is Embiid at $64 million a year ...
- Last year the Timberwolves got "upset" by the Mavericks and freaked out and traded a former #1 pick to a bigger market. They better hope they win this series or Anthony Edwards might be headed to the Clippers.
- Reggie Miller and Tyrese Haliburton when they run into each other. #NBAPlayoffs
- Trying to decide a meme for Tyrese Halliburton: 1. I took that personally, MJ, after being called overrated. Vs. 2. Reggie Miller for a dramatic finish to a playoff game. Anyway at least I know the meme for me:
- Before the OKC-Denver #NBAPlayoffs series I told @bguest.bsky.social I couldn't see how the Nuggets could take the Thunder and "all" I wanted was Jokic to steal one with a Wilt Chamberlain like game. So I'm playing with house money at this point.
- Jokic's got cross up moves up there like MJ and Iverson.
- No complaints with Jalen Brunson winning the Clutch Player award ... for the NBA Regular Season, but Aaron Gordon is absolutely the most clutch player so far in the #NBAPlayoffs.
- Nikola Jokic is now one of only 4 players (Shaq, Giannis, Wilt) to record a 40-20-5 statline in the #NBAPlayoffs! Thanks @stathead.com @basketball-reference.com AND only Jokic and Wilt won a game in the playoffs a statline like that! stathead.com/basketball/p...
- Uh-oh ... did Nikola Jokic phone Hakeem Olajuwon before the series? May I request that Silver presents Shai with his regular season MVP during this season for ... reasons? #NBAPlayoffs
- Checking the #NBAPlayoffs results tonight.
- This is definitely a tough one, two clues - one is probably the most prolific Celtics player ever, and the other, somehow, is still in the NBA!
- Four players in #NBAPlayoffs history have played in 10+ Game 7s. Fun note, all of them played for the Celtics at one point in their career, can you name them? Thanks as always to @stathead.com tools on @basketball-reference.com!

- Fun #NBAPlayoffs stat- The Clippers won every game that James Harden made six or more baskets. Anyway Go Nuggets!

- If an NBA Star fails in the playoffs, and a pundit say they should leave or the team should trade them? 1. Teams NEVER win trading legit stars, ever! 2. CBA means players lose money when leaving teams. Pundits want star movement because news and speculation are what they get paid for.

- . @americannumbers.bsky.social Is probably the best basketball analyst in the game. Had T-Wolves as favorites so fast. He also liked Milwaukee, but I'm wondering if he forgot the "Coach Karl coefficient" for Doc Rivers in the playoffs.
- @atifmyers.bsky.social Every year I think I'll get a "Happy Doc Rivers disappoints in the playoff day!" "joke card" and every year I forget, but next year? Maybe!
- Some Nuggets #NBAPlayoffs trivia: Jamal Murray now has 6!!! 40+ Point career playoff games. Carmelo Anthony has 4 career 40+ Point Playoff Games (Max 42) and only 2 in Denver. Murray has as many 40+ point playoff games against the Clippers as Melo did as a Nugget.

- If you're an NBA team with a superstar player and you're struggling, the solution is never ever ever to trade the superstar player. And any "Example" people can think of that worked, worked because another team traded or gave the first team a superstar player for free/cheap.
- On @chess.com opponent had a clear mouseslip, so I offered a draw. Chess.com automated coach said - "You had clear win, let's show you how." Got that (made up for the movie to be dramatic but still played great by Kingsley) Bruce Pandolfini from "Searching for Bobby Fischer" DNA in the code I guess!
