The black panthers knew the law well for a good reason. It’s important to be able to use it against them when you can. It doesn’t always work but it is an important tool. Castro too. Communists shouldn’t forget this.
i really really hate how many people on the left are responding to good advice on dealing with ICE with "so they don't abide by the law anyway"

And if you are socialist or communist thinking about arming yourself you should REALLY know the law well. Make sure you understand local and state laws even if you violate them. It’s important to know what has to be proven and what proof is needed
The law won’t save us. I am not saying it will but it is a tool in your toolkit. Same thing with having connections to local orgs that could raise awareness if something happens. And it’s understandable to react however when being abused by cops. Just woke up and wasn’t aware of broader discussion
