- This is gross: Among Us 3D launched today with an option to opt into having all voice data captured and processed by an external AI company—whose privacy statement (www.modulate.ai/privacy-and-...) is clearly written by AI *and* doesn't clearly answer how collected data is used. AVOID.
- thats really messed up for a childrens game :/
- Yeah the more I think about this the more I was like "wow that's a creepy amount of personal data to store about literal actual children"
- Apparently the functions of it is purely for monitoring/admin purposes to catch and flag bad behavior like harassment and hate speech.
- Or so they say, with how many tech companies have said one thing but done another over the years I'm done giving anyone the benefit of the doubt.
- Occam's Razor suggests Among Us simply doesn't want slurs hurled at children in their public game lobbies. Not everything is a conspiracy.
- Considering how actively the internet is being scraped of data non-consensually, I am no longer giving any company the benefit of the doubt. Also, no game that has that type of disclaimer **actively** protects against such behavior in VC. It's always on the users to file a manual report before revu
- With all due respect, may I point something out: You just said that no game has live-moderated voice chat, even though this entire thread is about how Among Us 3D has that exact feature. I sincerely respect and get where you're coming from, but this is conspiratorial thinking.
- Rockstar has used the same service for years now: rockstarintel.com/gta-online-a... It is indeed live and flags for human review. To clarify, this isn't GenAI, these are machine learning algorithms, which have been used in moderating online spaces for years. The models are not trained on user data.

- It's also been used to great effect in COD; you can read about that and more about how Modulate's service works here: venturebeat.com/games/how-to... And, contrary to OP's claims, Modulate is very specific in how it uses data: www.modulate.ai/privacy-and-... (this link is even in the screenshot!)
- I think the sour taste GenAI has left in people's mouths has led to people understandably but mistakenly throwing the baby out with the bath water when it comes to AI in general. ML-based moderation tools have been used on the web since the early 2010's -- they're even in use on Bsky right now! 🙂
