- I'm surprised tradpub short fic writers don't self-publish their short fic after it doesn't find a home in a SFF zine—plenty of great stories get trunked. Not that self-pub short stories sell great but it's a shame those stories never get read. Writer friends, what are your thoughts?
- I compromise. The only folks who buy my shorts are my fans, so I make them exclusive to my store. www.tiltedwindmillpress.com/product-cate... Eventually I collect shorts into collections and publish them wide.
- Nice! You're the second person I've seen call them "chapbooks" which I always think of as poetry or children's but it makes sense... Looks like you just do ebooks, not print for the chapbooks?
- A chapbook is just a tiny book. The economics of printing shorts via Amazon/IS doesn't work. I am getting my entire print catalog on my store via Bookvault. Once I can sell print shorts direct, the economics change. Only the mad will buy them, but the mad are my core audience. 😜
- I'm such a weirdo I would make a pile of tiny books just to have them on my shelf...
- bsky slices off the top of my profile pic, but, uh, if you could see I'd have to admit: guilty as chargedMay 14, 2025 22:59
- That is not TINY Lucas! lmao
- The top! The top is a tiny stack, atop the big stack. ;-)
