- Everyone points to "her placenta falls to the floor" when goofing on Live's Ed Kowalczyk, but I've long felt that the lyrics to "Selling the Drama" would cause a five-alarm fire if the song happened today and hit the same levels of popularity. "White, Discussion" goes hard, though.
- As part of the ANTICS team, I'll be at Utah's Kilby Block Party this weekend, seeing reunion sets from some of my favorite bands, including TV on the Radio, Rilo Kiley and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and when I get home I will immediately check into the aging hipster retirement center.
- Big news for everyone who spent 2003 saying "people say Joy Division all the time, but do you know who Interpol really sound like....."
- Tonight! Come party with ANTICS tonight at Trans Pecos, featuring sets from Godcaster, Spirit Night, and Colle! Support indie music, support indie publishing, support good vibes.
- Tonight, come celebrate the third issue of ANTICS at Trans Pecos!
- So why does Curtis Yarvin, leader of the Dark Intellectual Web, have a book that sounds like the title of a Coheed and Cambria album?

- In terms of Chicago reporters, Paul Giamatti would be amazing in a Spotlight-style biopic about Jim DeRogatis. (I figure something like this will eventually happen.)

- The Chris Gethard Show : Everybody's Live with John Mulaney Pixies : Nirvana (An observation, not a criticism.)
- Damn, I guess he really didn't like that Parasite won the Oscar on his watch.
- Just sitting here thinking about the fact that Nine Inch Nails are such a respected cultural institution that they appeared in the eighth chapter of Twin Peaks: The Return, one of the most singular and important pieces of American art ever made.
- For Stereogum, I wrote about Nine Inch Nails' With Teeth, the pivot point for an unexpected cultural institution.
- The Black Sabbath retirement concert is starting to feel like the series finale of heavy metal. consequence.net/2025/05/fina...
- For my @stereogum fam, I went long on how Trent Reznor, and how Mr. Self-Destruct pulled out of the downward spiral.
- The average American has three friends.
- This is the best answer. I win.

- Momma and Sasami are stars, and ANTICS is proud to put them on the cover of our upcoming issue. If you remember the feeling of growing up and going to your book or record store and grabbing your favorite magazine and hurriedly seeing who's in it, well, so do I. That's what we're aiming for.
- Was hoping Mr. Mamdani would show up at tonight's MJ show, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Great show anyway, though.

- Over at @stereogum.bsky.social I talked with Meat Puppets' Curt Kirkwood and Sublime's Bud Gaugh, lovely gents both, about their super group Volcano and their other super group Eyes Adrift, releasing their long-lost album, among other topics. Enjoy!
- I like the spice they use in Illinois these days. apnews.com/article/prit...
- Reposted by Michael TedderMultiple articles have been written about Bluesky being a dangerous echo chamber while the world’s richest and influential men are having their brains cooked in increasingly extremist group chats
- Going outside, having friends and real-life hobbies, and just enjoying movies, books, music, and just vibing so that your mind isn't a receptacle for endless status anxiety? GOATED life decision. Undefeated, really.
- Lots of great details in @semaforben.bsky.social's latest; extremely helpful for mapping out who is influencing whom on the right. Have been thinking for a while that private groupchats are at least as crazymaking as public social media, and much harder to study.
- "Fight Everywhere And All At Once" sounds like a banger sequel to Everything Every Where All At Once (and also the right call right now.)
- I keep telling myself, "There's music that's not the new Momma album, maybe take a break and listen to that," but somehow it doesn't happen these days.
- People's mileage will very, but this clip going viral was, for me, the sign that YouTube was really changing the way music got discovered. It was "Gangnam Style" for snooty Brooklyn people (complimentary).
