- It strikes me as increasingly obvious that the non-negotiable path to sustainable family formation is going to be cultural change—any given mixture of subsidies and mandates will have marginal effects at best. If people don't want kids, they won't have them.
- It could just be changes to norms and lifestyles that make parenting less miserable. I suspect that e.g. Caplan's argument that slotting kids into the life you want to live or the idea of free range kids, if adopted en masse, will do more to increase family formation than any subsidy.Dec 10, 2024 19:22
