- So far today: Time spent writing: 1 hour Time spent obsessively trying to get photo of squirrel in garden: 1 hour Look at him, though 🐿️ #writingcommunity #writers #writerslife #writersofbluesky

- Is that Doll Tor, perchance? Great place to read!
- I’ve come over a bit #MrsDalloway today, so I’ve popped out to the garden with my battered old copy, to be all stream of consciousness amongst the peonies & Big Ben’s ‘leaden circle’ chimes can fuse with the Abbey tower bells here 🔔 #booksky #bookrecommendations #litfic #VirginiaWoolf #literature
- Gallos. A beautiful 8 ft bronze sculpture by Rubin Eynon. Although he’s at Tintagel Castle, he isn’t meant to represent Arthur, or any one person. ‘Gallos’ derives from the Cornish word for ‘power’. And he’s my new favourite sculpture ❤️

- I love this book!

- Lovely! I was also there that year - I didn’t manage to get as good photos as you, but I think I got Silbury Hill in the background there, if you squint a bit
- I can’t resist a vintage Penguin. Just look at it! My #DHLawrence phase continues. I’ve not read this since my A levels; back then I nearly knew it by heart. It’s still brilliant - raw family life, deftly sculpted ❤️ If anyone wants me, I’ll be in the garden. #booksky #bookrecommendations #litfic
- I had to get this in Cardiff! To my shame, my copy of The #Mabinogion is still largely unread (big). This poetry version of the first 4 branches is perfect - so beautiful, so atmospheric. All flickering sconces & green-breathing forests - it’s a joy to read. #booksky #bookrecommendations #poetry

- Ah, thank you so much for that! 🙏

- No, I’ve not heard of that - I’ll have to check it out!
- 'While Allen Ginsberg was in England, he inevitably met the Beatles at a party, and was so moved at the sight of them that he took off all his clothes and made a dive for John Lennon.' From 1965, Hugo Williams on the Royal Albert Hall's Poetry Incarnation: thelondonmagazine.org/archive-poet...

- I have a tantrum about this on a too-regular basis.
- #StandingStoneSunday Aka #RecoveringFromBigHillsSunday Very nice once you’ve got there. Those Neolithic folk must’ve been in good shape #StandingStones #StoneCircle #TheFourStones #KingAndQueenStones
- Today, I’m mostly being a dryad. The mythology stay-by-trees kind, not the dormouse one. (Old pics, but you get the point - a dryad can’t be encumbered by her iphone.) #SpringEquinox
- Possibly my favourite sonnet. I love the Romantics’ attitude to a grasping establishment. #poetry #sonnet #literature
- Now that’s one hell of a tote bag! And it’s a yes from me, all round. #booksky #poetry #TSEliot #literature @faberbooks.bsky.social

- Good choice - me too!
- They were before my time, but I heard this book was very good. I’m entranced. Sublime writing. I defy you not to be snorting with laughter about Taylor’s pet chipmunk on p26, then reflecting on the nature of all of our lives a few pages later. #booksky #bookrecommendations #nonfiction #literature

- Sadly, no - too far. Looks like I’ll be missing a good evening, though.

- Yes, DH Lawrence gets you like that, doesn’t he.

- Ah, great - I hope you enjoy it! Sons & Lovers used to be my favourite and is another I should probably return to at some point.
- Stumped by the term #shoegaze as I was enjoying some new music yesterday ( @tirs.bsky.social ) & as per usual had to look it up. Turns out one of my fave bands as a teenager are shoegaze & does this mean I’m ahead of the game now rather than helplessly middle-aged? #music #electro #alternative
- Respect is due.

- The Ghastling, Nepenthe Press, Crow & Cross Keys (online) spring to mind. Good luck!
- @dannyrobins.bsky.social Well, inspired by #Uncanny ep. 3 #ShadowMan , the Post Mortem & a kind Twitter user’s recommendation, I read this yesterday. It has a shadow man, shadow people & lots more - & raises whole new questions. (Esp. to me, as I’m from H/west 😱👀) One for the team to look into?
- Well, I think the new #BridgetJones film might possibly be the best. Just off to climb a tree now.

- That’s my favourite stone at Avebury! Well, possibly. I do like quite a few of them. Great shot, anyway.

- Yes! Terrifying - poor Sybil & her staff 😱😱 I can’t suggest anything for the sightings, but might the infrasound <20hz theory be a factor in feelings of a ‘presence’ & even some of the smaller object movements? Is the shop near any train lines, large roads, underground systems of any kind?
- Good advice from father to son. In fact, from any human to any other human. ❤️ See the middle of the longest para. From the Jonathan Bates biography of Ted Hughes. #books #literature
- I happily put my new perfume on today, only for my daughter to inform me I smell like a custard cream. My air of cool sophistication and glamour reaches its zenith, I feel.
- Everybody, please meet my new favourite Saint, Dwynwen, Welsh patron saint of lovers. She’s brilliant. Look at her plaits. And low-slung elbows. 2 solid reasons for beatification right there. No hagiography’s complete without her.
- Oh, super-exciting. And if this is true, & not some AI generated fantasy, I need to get me to see this. Preferably at the BFI or somewhere, peut-être ❤️ #NouvelleVague #cinema #NewWave
- I think I might be coming over a bit Nouvelle Vague … all I can remember is some jump cuts, so a bout time for a rewatch, methinks. (See what I did there?) #Films #movies #NewWave #cinema #aBoutDeSouffle #Breathless
- Started this & how have I never read any John Banville before? #TheSingularities is beautifully written - the most original imagery & all of it water-clear. I’m intrigued already to see how he’s playing around with the idea of time. And yes, look at that cover ❤️ #booksky #bookrecommendations
- Bought on a whim in Hay last summer, & now it’s my between-other-books dip & it’s really rather good. It mixes history, magic, myth, interviews, cheerfully exploring the off-piste. Although, the pagan templates used by today’s church are made clear. So maybe not so off-piste after all. #booksky
- @lazbo.bsky.social was wondering - any plans to liberate your alter ego from that bucket for Christmas? Just asking. Poor chap.
