I only taught college for three years, but the final exam in the class was the student talking to me for half an hour about what they learned, and if I remember correctly, a quarter of the grade was based on that conversation
The rest was on class participation and a handful of homework assignments

It's the way it was done in olden times.
Papers were invented by professors to allow them to fast-forward through the conversations with dimmer students, but it's backfired on them.
It’s a wonderful approach. This is why we need real reform in education. If we had smaller classes we could do this, and lots of other things like it.
That's a cool final assignment.
