- The right to bring a challenge to your custody to a neutral magistrate has survived in the common law with very few exceptions or exemptions for nine hundred years. Suspending it over a made-up "invasion" is not "controversial." The US media is just openly refusing to meet the moment at this point
- Many years ago @nicolemicheroni.bsky.social and I met a good man in ICE custody with a tough deportation case which he had been told was hopeless. I just had the privilege of accompanying him to his citizenship interview. These are the ones that truly make all of this worth it
